I don't understand these tantrums because of the gender change. A person wanted to change his job — one changed, nothing special. Changing house, country, religion, love partner... Also, nothing is at least somewhat significant for everyone except for the person who makes the change. Why is gender reassignment causing so much noise? And why should people limit themselves to just two genders?
